Message from Executive Director:
Friends,
When people ask me why I do what I do for SoCal Adaptive Sports, my answer
Two of my greatest inspirations are my son, Bode, and my niece, Emma. Bode is on the autism spectrum, and Emma was born with a limb difference. Watching them navigate the world—with all the challenges and triumphs that come with developmental and physical differences—has given me a deep understanding of both the power and the necessity of inclusion.
And while Bode and Emma are my “why,” our work at SoCal Adaptive Sports extends far beyond serving individuals with developmental or physical disabilities. We’re here for the elderly, for those with “invisible” disabilities like Alzheimer’s or cancer, and for the sight- and hearing-impaired. Our mission is to make sure every person, regardless of ability, has access to the joy, connection, and confidence that come from sports and recreation.
On a trip back to see some family this weekend, I had the chance to spend quality time with Em and Bode. We swam in the ocean, ran along the beach, played cornhole, had countless games of catch, and even took in a minor league baseball game. Those moments reminded me why I fight so hard for the work we do—because everyone deserves opportunities to play, to move, and to belong.
At SoCal Adaptive Sports, we believe that sports are more than games—they are a bridge to inclusion, dignity, and possibility. And every program we run, every athlete we reach, and every barrier we break down is powered by the belief that every ability matters.
Thank you for standing with us and for helping create a world where everyone gets to be part of the team.
Adelante,
Chris Allen
