Friends,

Running a nonprofit is both a privilege and a challenge. Every day, we see the power of inclusion—the joy that comes when someone who once sat on the sidelines finally gets to play. But behind every smile, every high five, and every breakthrough moment is an organization that works tirelessly to keep the doors open, the programs running, and the opportunities growing.

Between now and the end of the year, we are on a mission to raise $50,000 to help keep our programs low—or in many cases, no—cost to the athletes and families who rely on us. These funds go directly toward equipment, facility rentals, transportation, coaching, and the support that makes adaptive sports possible for people of all abilities.

Unfortunately, our current economy provides challenges for a lot of us.  We see programs being cut and resources reallocated to other priorities at multiple levels of government.  Some of our communities are scaling back recreation and inclusion programs. The result is fewer opportunities for our friends and loved ones with disabilities to participate, to connect, and to thrive. That’s where organizations like SoCal Adaptive Sports step in—filling the gap, ensuring no one is left out, and building the kind of community we all want to live in.  

We understand that many worthy causes compete for your time and your charitable dollars. But if you’re reading this newsletter, it’s because SoCal Adaptive Sports has touched your life—as a participant, partner, volunteer, supporter or fan. You’ve seen what we can do together.

Over the next two months, we’ll be reaching out through email and social media, inviting you to join the movement and make an impact that will quite literally make one of our disabled or special needs athlete’s day. Whether you volunteer, share a post, or make a donation, your action will ripple through our community and change lives in ways that last far beyond the season.

We’re also excited to share a few fun opportunities to give back while giving yourself something to enjoy! On November 15, come see the beloved movie Ice Castles and meet its star, Lynn-Holly Johnson. Tickets are available through the link in the flyer attached to this newsletter, and a portion of all ticket sales will benefit SoCal Adaptive Sports.

And mark your calendars—on January 31, we’ll be hosting the 1st Annual IncrediBowl Adaptive and Special Needs Bowling Tournament at Canyon Lanes at Morongo Casino. Multiple sponsorship opportunities are available starting at $250, offering you or your business exposure to a large audience throughout Riverside County—all while supporting a great cause.  Reach out to me directly to discuss how we can give your organization, product or business an audience that supports its sponsors.

Dirigir una organización sin fines de lucro es tanto un privilegio como un desafío. Cada día vemos el poder de la inclusión: la alegría que surge cuando alguien que antes estaba al margen finalmente puede participar. Pero detrás de cada sonrisa, cada saludo con la mano y cada momento de superación, hay una organización que trabaja incansablemente para mantener sus puertas abiertas, sus programas activos y sus oportunidades en crecimiento.

Entre ahora y el final del año, tenemos la misión de recaudar $50,000 para mantener nuestros programas a bajo costo —o en muchos casos, sin costo alguno— para los atletas y las familias que dependen de nosotros. Estos fondos se destinan directamente al equipo deportivo, al alquiler de instalaciones, al transporte, a los entrenadores y al apoyo que hace posible los deportes adaptados para personas de todas las habilidades.

Lamentablemente, la economía actual presenta desafíos para muchos de nosotros. Estamos viendo cómo se reducen programas y se reasignan recursos a otras prioridades en distintos niveles de gobierno. Ahí es donde organizaciones como SoCal Adaptive Sports entran en acción: llenando el vacío, asegurando que nadie quede fuera y construyendo el tipo de comunidad en la que todos queremos vivir.

Entendemos que hay muchas causas valiosas que compiten por su tiempo y por sus donaciones. Pero si está leyendo este boletín, es porque SoCal Adaptive Sports ha sido parte de su vida: como participante, socio, voluntario, colaborador o seguidor. Usted ha visto lo que podemos lograr juntos.

Expert Adaptive Archery Instruction Every Monday

We wrapped up October on a high note with our friends at Robin Hood Academy in Indio, CA. The month was full of bullseyes, smiles, and unforgettable memories. Our Adaptive Athletes continue to impress us with their dedication and passion for archery, and it’s inspiring to see them experience the power of sports. A huge thank-you to all the friends and family for your continued support.

The 'INCREDIBOWLS' strike again! 

October was an incredible month for our friends, The Incredi-bowls. The energy at Yucca Bowl continues to grow, and we’re so grateful for our amazing athletes who show up with dedication, talent, and heart. Last month was filled with strikes, smiles, and friendships. Thank you to all the friends and family who help us build awareness through play.

The vibes are always strong with our friends on Wednesdays for adaptive bowling at Fantasy Springs. October was a huge success, and we’re so proud of our athletes for their determination, skill, and precision. Thank you to our athletes and families for your continued love and support. We are growing our Inland Regional Center programs, including self-determination, and continue to offer 1:1 and small group coaching and workouts.  If you'd like to take part and/or participate in any of our programs, please have SoCal Adaptive Sports assigned by your Regional Center Community Services Coordinator (CSC). Our Vendor number is PJ5601. We are open to many different modalities for bringing adaptive sports and physical, social, and emotional health to everyBODY!

As an adaptive sports coach, you'll leverage your passion for sports and strong communication skills to create an inclusive environment for athletes with varying abilities. You'll develop tailored training programs, facilitate engaging activities, and foster teamwork and confidence among participants, ensuring everyone feels valued and empowered. Your role will involve actively promoting inclusivity, adapting strategies to meet individual needs, and encouraging personal growth. Your love for sports and ability to connect with others will be essential in making a positive impact in the lives of the athletes you will coach.

Program Manager

The Program Manager/Coach will work directly with the Executive Director in providing expert coaching, outreach and program development.  Your job will be to provide all of the above to help us achieve our mandate to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities throughout Riverside County and other Southern California communities.
