Message from Executive Director:
Friends,
If you’ve been paying attention over the past few weeks, you’ve probably felt it too.
There is something special happening in sports right now.
The FIFA World Cup has captured the attention of fans around the globe. Families are gathering around televisions, kids are wearing their favorite jerseys, and communities are celebrating the incredible power of sport to unite people across cultures, languages, and borders.
For those of us in adaptive sports, that excitement means even more.
The World Cup isn’t just the biggest event in soccer—it also signals that we are now firmly on the road toward the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games here in Southern California. Over the next two years, the world’s greatest athletes will inspire millions, and we have an incredible opportunity to ensure that athletes with disabilities are part of that story.
At SoCal Adaptive Sports, we don’t simply watch dreams unfold—we help buildthem.
In just a couple of weeks, several of our regular Sunday Boccia athletes will travel to the USA Boccia National Championships. Every practice, every throw, every hour spent refining their skills has led to this opportunity. For many, Nationals represents more than a championship. It is another important step along the pathway toward representing the United States on the international stage—and perhaps one day wearing Team USA across their chest at the Paralympic Games.
Whether that dream is realized next year, in 2028, or beyond, we’re incredibly proud of what these athletes have accomplished. They’ve earned the opportunity to compete with the nation’s best, and our entire SoCal Adaptive Sports family will be cheering them on.
Their journey also reminds us of something we see every day across all of ourprograms.
Champions aren’t made overnight.
They’re built one practice at a time. One lesson at a time. One encouraging teammate, volunteer, coach, donor, and family member at a time.
As excitement builds toward LA28, SoCal Adaptive Sports is growing right alongside it. From boccia and wheelchair softball to football, archery, bowling, hiking, and our Sports For EveryBODY school outreach program, we’re creating opportunities for athletes of every age and ability to discover what they’re capable of.
There has never been a more exciting time to be involved in adaptive sports, and there has never been a better time to become part of the SoCal Adaptive Sports family.
Thank you for believing in our mission, for supporting our athletes, and for helping us build a future where every person—regardless of ability—has the opportunity to compete, belong, and thrive.
The road to LA28 is already underway.
And we’re just getting started!
With gratitude,
Chris Allen Executive Director
SoCal Adaptive Sports
Amigos,
¡Y apenas estamos empezando!
Adelante,
Chris Allen Director Ejecutivo SoCal Adaptive Sports
