Message from Executive Director:

My Favorite Time of Year

Friends,

I love this time of year.

Baseball playoffs are here. Football has taken over our weekends. Hockey is getting underway, and basketball is right around the corner. For a sports fan, October is pretty hard to beat.

And this year, it feels especially exciting at SoCal Adaptive Sports because we aren’t just watching sports — we’re playing them.

Over the past several months, we’ve taken some huge steps toward expanding our competitive team sports programs, including the development of our wheelchair softball and wheelchair football teams.

Our softball program has already brought together an incredible group of athletes, and we’re excited about what lies ahead for the Rolling Halos. At the same time, we’re building our wheelchair football program and creating another opportunity for athletes with physical disabilities to compete, build friendships and experience everything that comes with being part of a team.

And since hockey season is here, it seems only appropriate that we get back on the ice, too.

We will have another sled hockey session coming soon, giving athletes the opportunity to get in a sled, grab a stick and experience one of the fastest and most exciting adaptive sports around. If you’ve never seen sled hockey in person, you’re missing out. Better yet — come try it.

That’s really what continues to excite me about the direction SoCal Adaptive Sports is heading.

Whether it’s softball, football, sled hockey, boccia, bowling, archery, pickleball or one of the many other programs we offer, we’re working toward a simple idea: the opportunity to play shouldn’t depend on your ability.

Sports give us so much more than exercise. They give us teammates. Competition. Confidence. Laughter. A reason to get out of the house. Something to practice for. Something to celebrate. And occasionally, something to complain about on the ride home!

Those experiences should belong to everyBODY.

So enjoy the playoffs. Enjoy football season. Welcome hockey back. Get ready for basketball.

And then come out and play with us.

There’s a lot happening at SoCal Adaptive Sports this fall — and we’re just getting started.

Amigos,

Mi época favorita del año

Amigos:

Mejor aún: vengan a probarlo.

Esas experiencias deberían pertenecer a everyBODY.
